BraunCollection - Collection Poster
Braun is a renowned international brand for electrical appliances that has been setting design standards from the 1950’s until today. The BraunCollection in Kronberg offers an inside view into the history of Braun products, the designs and thus into the company culture. It houses historical products and documents that have not only written design history but also strongly influenced the concept of corporate identity in Germany.

Since 2005, the year in which Braun celebrated 50 years of Design Innovation, the BraunCollection has been open to the public. Exhibits such as “The Culture of Shaving”, “The Face of a Brand” or „Braun HiFi – Origins of a Design Culture“ have attracted visitors not only from the Rhine Main area but also from other parts of Germany and even from other countries.

The BraunCollection offers visitors a historical perspective on the origin and meaning of a successful German brand, as well as a perspective for the future, since many of the values that Braun stands for – functionality, enduring quality, aesthetics – are more relevant today than ever.

Radio Braun

Braun’s expertise in design originated in the leadership and vision of the brothers Erwin and Artur Braun. But their father, company founder Max Braun, had already established a flourishing company in pre-war Germany, Radio Braun.
Design and Technology

Design and Technology

One of the unique aspects of Braun’s history and culture is how design and technology have worked hand in hand to create innovations. In some cases engineers have proposed new paths and were supported by designers, in other cases designers proposed the innovation and engineers brought it to life.

The fifth special exhibition presents more than 100 hi fi products, many of them design classics, from 1959 through 1989. The exhibit not only inspires design fans, but also illustrates, through side-by-side comparisons, how Braun inspired several Apple design icons of the 21st century.
